Good Dog Obedience Training
Please refer to Calendar for scheduled classes.
Private and group classes are available.
Group is recommended, where you are teaching your dog and the dog is learning to obey you, not me. He is also learning in a class with other dogs, which are major distractions, so that he will mind you at all times regardless of what is going on around him. This is also the less expensive method.
Puppy Kindergarten is offered to puppies 3 to 6 months of age. This is a really fun class taught with happy voices and treats. This class is based on Ian Dunbar's Serius Puppy Training. The puppies play with each other and are handled by the other owners. General care and advice is also given with a question/answer session at the end of each class. This class is 45 minutes - 1 hour and consists of 5 sessions for $65.
Basic class is for the dog that is over 6 months or has completed Puppy Kindergarten. It is mostly positive training, but you do use corrections when needed. This class is 1 hour and consist of 8 sessions for $90, each additional dog at half price (lower price). Collars depend on the personality of the dog. A soft, timid dog may need a nylon buckle or adjustable collar. Chain, check, nylon and toggle chokes are normally used. Pinch collars are used on the hard to handle, very strong, or hyper dog. Leather leashes are preferred, but nylon can be used for the smaller dog. Supplies are available and it is better for the instructor to fit your dog with the correct collar. Proof of current vaccinations are required for all classes.
Advanced/Rally Classes are offered to dogs who have graduated from Basic. Dogs learn to go off lead. They are taught Obedience and Rally exercises. Most of the students in these classes have earned titles in both AKC Rally and Obedience. Cost is $85 for 8 lessons that you attend.
Private classes are offered with owner meeting with the instructor. This can be for special problems or to learn puppy methods. Basic can be taught in 3 sessions. This is approximately $50 per hour.
Another method offered is to leave your dog for two weeks for $400, half prepaid and the remaining half when finished. The instructor will teach as much basic as the dog will learn. Special problems are also addressed.
